Lasik
In the past, low vision could only be treated with glasses and a small number of treatments. Today, any problem related to the eyes is solved with the help of advanced technologies.
Although eye surgeries are very different from other surgical procedures, many people are worried about the possible complications. In fact, it is interesting in which cases this type of treatment is possible and in which cases it is not. We will talk about this issue below.
Before eye surgery
Before starting to talk about eye surgeries, let's clarify in which cases this type of procedure is performed. It is recommended to perform eye microsurgery in patients with low vision, astigmatism, myopia, hypermetropia, retinopathy caused by complications of diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, etc..
Surgery is selected individually for each patient and is performed after the age of 18, according to the degree and condition of the disease. The thickness of the retina is also important for practice. What percentage of the patient's vision with the help of glasses and lenses was before the operation, and this result will be preserved after the procedure.
A general analysis of urine and blood, biochemical status of blood, an index of the fundus and internal pressure, if necessary, a cardiogram and a medical opinion of a narrow range of specialists may be required. If the patient has diabetes, an endocrinologist's opinion is requested.
The course of the process
4 hours before the start of the operation, it is necessary to eat, clean the face and eyes from cosmetics. It is also important for the patient to be calm and not nervous at the beginning of the surgery. Before the operation, several different drops are first applied to the eye. These are:
A dilator device is used to prevent blinking. While looking at the fixation lamp, the doctor monitors the eye through a microscope. During the operation, the patient must be awake and alert. Because its stable condition ensures successful operation
Laser treatment:
Currently, types of modern laser equipment such as "LASIK", "FRK", "SUPER LASIK", "FEMO LASIK" are widely used. The surgical procedure carried out with their help consists of two steps: In the first step, a vacuum ring is placed on the eye. In this case, less pressure is felt, and the patient's vision darkens. A superficial flap is then formed using a microkeratome, which the surgeon lifts and pushes to the side.
In the second stage, a laser is used to give the curtain a new shape. The laser noise may be slightly audible and may produce an unpleasant odor. The total time of use of the laser is 10 seconds. After that, the valve is put in place and quickly closed. There are no stitches during surgery.
Replacement of the eyeball:
When the negative level in the eye is 18, 20, 25 or more, if the patient does not want to wear glasses or contact lenses (and in such cases it is not possible to eliminate the negative level of the cornea), the eyeball can be replaced. The back of the eye must be in satisfactory condition to replace the gem. After the patient undergoes the necessary medical examinations, the artificial gem is replaced with the real one, and the negative level in the eye is removed. After the operation, it is absolutely impossible for the patient to carry heavy loads and get injured!
Gluttony can also be treated!
Cataract replacement, nasolacrimal canal treatment, drooping eyelids, vertical strabismus (upward and downward gaze in addition to lateral and inward gaze), due to various reasons, Cosmetic and aesthetic plastic surgery procedures are performed in cases such as eyeball shrinking (change in shape) due to injury (stone, glass penetration). Also, patients who have had one eye removed for some reason are being given a prosthetic limb that is no different than the other eye..
Is myopia correctable?
A patient suffering from this disease receives eye treatment every six months until the age of 14-15 years. Sometimes procedures can be carried out up to 25-30 years. To further improve the nutrition of the retina, vitamin treatments are also performed under the supervision of a doctor. Surgical intervention can be carried out in the form of laser surgery in the "FRK" and "SUPER LASIK" methods.
After surgery.
In the first 24 hours, as well as in 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year, it is necessary to undergo medical supervision. It is forbidden to apply various lotions, creams and make-up products for 1 week after the operation in order to prevent eye infection. Do not get water in the eyes, do not wash the head (it is better to wash the head before starting the surgery). It is not possible to swim in water bodies, take a sauna, a hot bath for a month. In the following months, it is also wrong to engage in sports that require physical strength. By the way, you should be honest about whether you use glasses or contact lenses when you come to see the doctor before the surgery. After all, before the operation, the patient should not have used lenses for 1 month (at least 2 weeks).
Can glaucoma be cured??
In medicine, an increase in intraocular blood pressure is called glaucoma, and it is a separate disease that does not depend on general blood pressure. In this case, there is a change in the optic nerve and vision, and the earlier these conditions are detected, the more effective the treatment will be. Glaucoma can be treated with laser surgery or surgery. If, say, 20% of the vision is lost due to the disease, this percentage is preserved due to the treatment.
In which cases it is not possible?
